Medisale is an international wholesaler of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and cosmetics. What started as a local Belgian company grew into an organization with operations across Europe and beyond. Recently, Africa was added as well.
The CEO is often on the road building international relationships. In Belgium and southern Spain, warehouses are running at full speed. Internally, a General Manager oversees the entire operational flow.
Medisale had been working with Odoo for years, but on an older version. As the company grew, every adjustment became more complex and more expensive. Customizations had to be rewritten again and again. Costs increased. Flexibility lagged behind.

That also means that when Odoo slows down, the entire company feels it. Especially in the warehouse.
An upgrade became unavoidable. And that is always a moment when you reassess everything.

The ERP partner was reconsidered. But so was the hosting. Because that turned out to be less innocent than expected. Medisale was running on a shared hosting platform, together with other companies. From time to time there were slowdowns, causing orders to get stuck. This was immediately noticeable in the warehouse.
At first, it was thought to be an internet connection issue. Only later did it become clear that it was not the cable, but the environment everything was running on.
Not everything was decisive. Open source was nice to have, but not the core reason. What really mattered was simplicity and certainty.
A dedicated platform, not a shared environment. Speed and stability. And above all, the feeling that someone is actively keeping an eye on things.
After the switch, the difference was immediately clear. No more waiting times. No more interruptions. Both the team in Belgium and in Spain noticed it right away.
The General Manager of Medisale is not an IT specialist. And that is fine. But then you need to be able to rely on your partners.
