Dedicated vs. VPS
Hosted Power no longer offers dedicated servers, instead we are fully focused and specialised in Virtual Private Servers (VPS).
Allow us to explain why getting a VPS is much better:

Server grade hardware
The average dedicated server does not have a redundant PSU or cooling, no server-class motherboard or ECC memory. The Hosted Power VPS'es only run on the best server-class hardware and have everything from power, CPU, disks to network fully redundant available.
Cost saving
All Virtual Private Servers ordered can be upgraded and downgraded at any time without extra costs! So you never have to pay for resources you don't need, while at the same time having the flexibility to allocate more resources at any time. Furthermore you do longer have to invest in expensive hardware.
Redundant Storage
All SAN's for our VPS'es are created redundantly and furthermore they have RAID on their drives, because everyone knows - hard drives will die. Not only do they provide redundancy, but also faster recovery if one of the drives does die, to absolutely minimize down time.
I/O is burstable
Hosted Power doesn't put a limit on the disk IO. It's our responsibility to make sure there is always enough capacity available. Furthermore we have 8Gigabit Fibre Channel connections for all SAN's. Also we leave a significant amount of unused capacity on all our arrays.
CPU is burstable
When there are idle cycles, you can grab always a CPU from the pool. So the end result is usually much faster than a dedicated server which is used heavily. Moreover we do not cap the CPU cycles in any way.
Extra management
Both VPS and dedicated servers are “unmanaged”, but VPS's are more managed than a dedicated server. Hosted Power will look out for hardware issues and we'll make sure your VPS boots. With our advanced support plan we'll also monitor your VPS completely and take actions when problems arise.
Better for the environment
A lot more VPS can be put into the same rack than cheap dedicated servers. Thus less electricity is used. It's evident that this is better for the environment.
